Sports: Chelsea transfer news: Andreas Christensen will try to leave in January if not restored to the team, claims his father and agent

Andreas Christensen’s father and agent has issued a public ultimatum to Chelsea by claiming his son will ask for a transfer in January if he’s not back in the club’s first team.

The 22-year-old centre-back returned to Stamford Bridge last season after a two-year loan at Borussia Monchengladbach and quickly found himself playing as a permanent fixture under Antonio Conte.

Christensen has developed into one of the world’s most promising young defenders

Christensen performed well in 2017/18, however new manager Maurizio Sarri has brought David Luiz back into the fold in his place.

Gary Cahill has also dropped out of the side, with Antonio Rudiger now starting instead.

Speaking to Danish television, Christensen’s father and agent, Sten, voiced their displeasure at the situation by claiming he will request a January transfer unless his son starts playing more.

Christensen Sr explained: “If his situation doesn’t change around Christmas, we’ll obviously schedule a chat with Chelseaand say, ‘Okay, what can we do for Andreas? Can we move him?’

“For me it’s not a loan again. Either it’s Chelsea or else he needs to leave. I don’t think a loan is the optimal situation for Andreas.
