Harry Redknapp has hailed Jack Grealish as a “marvellous talent” and believes the Aston Villa man should be playing for a Premier League team.
Grealish caught Redknapp’s eye when the former Tottenham and QPR boss was in attendance of the Hoops’ 1-0 victory over Villa at Loftus Road on Friday night.
The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a transfer to Spurs in the summer, but a move never materialised due to the Championship club’s high asking price.
However, Redknapp thinks Premier League clubs should snap Grealish up if Villa don’t get promoted back to the top tier this season.
Speaking on Monday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the 71-year-old said: “I watched QPR v Villa on Friday night and I thought, ‘what a good player that boy Grealish is.’
“I think he should really be playing in the Premier League.
“That’s no disrespect to Villa, either they need to get into the Premier League or he needs to be to in the Premier League.
“I think he’s a marvellous talent. You just want him to get the ball.
“He reminds me of Alan Hudson at Chelsea, he was a great footballer, the way he used to glide over the pitch.
“I love Grealish, every time I watch the kid I think he really does look a player to me.
“I think he’s a player England could start to get into the group, he’s the type of player England are lacking, someone who can do something special and open the door in the midfield.”
